Freeze Frame the Year: The Family Yearbook

DSCN1562Do you have a camera chip full of photos from the year?  I do.

Why not turn them into a photo album, OR create a DVD slideshow to be viewed on the television, OR file them on your desktop/laptop and set your screensaver to scroll through them?

I have my desktop screensaver set to scroll through all my picture files.  Sometimes I’ll glance up at the computer and an ancestor is staring back at me!  I love it.  It helps me to feel connected to them.

Family members love thumbing through the old album, especially when there are pictures of THEM in it.

In 2008 I made this photo album with the best pictures of the year.  Now that I look back three years later, it’s hard to believe that was so long ago, yet we have the memories recorded in an album.  Though time marches on, we ARE able to freeze frame special moments and keep them alive in our memories.

DSCN1563If you’d like to create an album, there are many companies that can help you.  All you do is go to their site, choose templates, upload photos, write captions, choose a cover, order a print copy, pay for it, and you’re done!  Here’s some sites that you might consider:

The book shown here was printed by Shutterfly.

Now that I’ve convinced you (and myself) to preserve this year, what are you waiting for?  Let’s freeze frame 2011!

The DUP museum has a tree with picture framed shots of pioneers. It is located in Salt Lake City.

Susan I love the edge on the first photo. Do you know of a program that can put a variety of edges on photos? I especially like those vintage look photos.

    Thanks!

Thanks Zaria! It looks like it was handmade with those special scrapbooking scissors. That edge came as a template from Shutterfly for the cover of the book. I’m really impressed by all the templates at Shutterfly because they look like I spent hours cutting fancy paper. I haven’t used the other vendors for a photo book, so can’t speak from experience with them. Readers, does anyone else know of a source for Zaria?

  3. In 2009 I put together a wonderful photo album – the best pics of the year – and had as a goal to do it annually. Life got in the way last year and has again this year….but you have inspired me to make time! Thanks for the reminder!
